Learn how to obtain a Missouri Medical Marijuana Card

Apr 29

Missouri approved Amendment Two in November 2018, which legalized medical marijuana. While it is possible to apply for a medical marijuana card in Missouri now, cannabis dispensaries aren't likely to be operational in the next few months, possibly by the middle of 2020 or later. There are many Missouri providers who will not conduct evaluations until state regulations are simplified.

Become a Missouri patient

It's simple to obtain a Missouri medical marijuana patient card. The requirements for obtaining a Missouri medical cannabis card are simple. The patient must be 18 years old, legally a Missouri resident, and possess a qualifying condition officially certified by a doctor who has completed this form. The patient must complete the form and submit the form within 30 days. The patient is also required to submit an online application.

There are a variety of requirements states must satisfy in order to be eligible to join. The Missouri Constitution defines qualifying conditions as:

  • Cancer

  • Epilepsy

  • Glaucoma

  • Insensitive migraines to all other treatments

  • A chronic medical condition that can cause chronic, constant muscle spasms or pain. It can be caused by multiple sclerosis, seizures, and Parkinson's disease.

  • A psychiatrist licensed in the state can diagnose and treat debilitating mental disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder.

  • Human immunodeficiency virus (or acquired immune deficiency Syndrome)

  • A doctor may recommend medical cannabis if she believes that it is an alternative to prescription medications for a chronic condition.

  • A terminal disease that is terminal

  • Other chronic, debilitating, or medical conditions that doctor diagnoses are Crohn's Disease and amyotrophic Sclerosis Crohn's Disease and Huntington's Disease as well as autism and neuropathies.

  • A licensed physician in Missouri must sign and complete the physician certification form. The form must be provided within 30 days from the date on which the patient completed their application. For submission electronically, the form must be scanned or photographed.

  • An original, legible duplicate of the ID Card issued to the government.

  • A parent or legal guardian's consent form for patients who are not eligible to be eligible If applicable.

  • A clear, vibrant photograph of the patient who is eligible, taken within the past three (3) months

  • OPTIONAL: A note stating whether the patient receives assistance from any Missouri programs and, if yes, which.

  • A statement that indicates whether the patient wants permission to grow cannabis for medical purposes.

What is the best way to become a caregiver?

Caregivers must be at least 21 years old and be able to accept the responsibility of caring for qualified medical marijuana patients. Caregivers are able to care for up three patients at a time, but patients are restricted to two caregivers. To choose their designated caregiver, eligible patients have to sign an authorization. This form needs to be completed using the online application.

Rules and regulations

Missouri is not a state that allows medical marijuana patients to be sentenced. After obtaining a medical cannabis card, their patient or caregiver status could be canceled in the event of a conviction.

Patients can purchase and have access to up to 4 ounces of dried, unprocessed marijuana every 30 days once state-licensed dispensaries are opened. Patients will need to pay a four per percent tax when buying cannabis from a state-licensed dispensary.

Qualifying patients and caregivers who have been licensed to cultivate may grow up to six mature plants per patient. Missouri law allows patient cultivation. However, the department can't provide information about where or how to buy seeds.

Missouri Medical Marijuana Program strongly declares that it does not provide reciprocity to non-state medical marijuana patients. The program is available only to Missouri residents who meet the requirements.
